Now that Brawl is out and folks have gotten the chance to acquire their copies, unlock characters and stages, etc, I thought I would introduce something I've been planning for a little while: A stage builder contest! The Brawl stage builder is a fun tool, and building stages that are fun and worth playing again and again is a fine art, with many different factors to consider. Even the choice of title, comment, and soundtrack can make a big difference in a stage.
Here's how this would work.
-Contestants may build ONE stage (probably) to submit to the contest. Anyone may participate. If you don't own a copy of Brawl you may build your stage using someone else's copy.
-Contestants will submit their stage to a designated Wii which will be used to hold all of the stages.
-There will be 2-4 judges who will play the stages and give them scores based on several criteria.
-The specific criteria will be worked out later, once the judges are determined, but they will have to do with the creativity of the stage (the more different it is, the better), the "fun-ness" of the stage (how much the judges enjoy playing on it), how well the title and comment fit with the stage, and so on. Let me know if you have any suggestions for criteria. We may even have some "bonus" or "silly" criteria, such as "best/most creative use of spikes," which may or may not factor in to the actual score that the stage gets.
-I haven't figured out whether or not judges should be able to submit stages. Obviously they would not be allowed to judge their own stage. Maybe they could just step out during the play of their stage, or play on it but not give it any scores. Let me know if you have any ideas regarding this.
If you are interested in participating, please post here! Also, please let me know if you would like to be a judge, or if you have any other ideas for how we could do this.
